About

The Kamikaze cocktail is believed to have originated in the 1970s, during the boom in cocktail culture in the United States. It is often associated with the bars and nightclubs of the time, where vodka-based shots were a staple of party nights.

However, some sources suggest that the Kamikaze may be even older, dating back to the post-World War II period, at a bar on a U.S. military base in Japan. Its name, which means "divine wind" in Japanese, evokes the kamikaze pilots of the war, although its use in a cocktail is purely metaphorical, referring to its quick and powerful effect.
