Pousse l'amour cocktail: a delicious layered long drink of French origin.


For 1 person
4 cl marasquin
1 egg yolk
3 cl vanilla cordial (liqueur de vanille)
2 cl Cognac

How to make

Technique: straight to the glass / Glass: flute / Type: long drink (12cl) / Time: 5 mn
  1. Prepare an egg yolk.

  2. Pour the maraschino into a glass.

  3. Insert the egg yolk, gently running it along the glass so that it overlaps with the maraschino.

  4. Insert the vanilla liqueur which should in theory settle between the maraschino and the egg yolk.

  5. Gently insert the Cognac along the glass so that it overlaps on top.


The Pousse l'Amour cocktail was published in 1862 in "Bartenders guide: How to mix drinks" by Jerry Thomas, who indicates that it is a French cocktail.
